Let's know about the career of a business analyst with a short anecdote. After the successful completion of graduation, a graduate is exposed to number of opportunities and avenues to launch a career. When one decides to become a Business analyst he should be able to define the process too for achieving it. To understand what a business analyst should have as a recipe to succeed: it would be good to know that one needs to possess process knowledge, analytical skills and exposure to latest technologies and trends both in the industries and organisations.

In order to be qualified, he undergoes a number of professional courses, which helps him to figure out ways and means to exploring the solution to a problem. It’s an irony that whenever he finds a solution he is exposed to learn new ideas, strategies, principles, tactics and new technologies in addition to being a sound psychologist! Have I right the last word right psychologist! Well in a way it sounds a little off target but in reality, as the job of a business analyst is also to work and collaborate with a number of people called stakeholders it really becomes evident to also understand their pulse and emotions which is why I have framed the word psychologist. Moreover, business analyst is a profession in which one should have the ability to visualize the problem in the stakeholder’s view. “I can” is 100% more important than “IQ”. The Business analyst should have that audacity to clash with the challenges. He should constantly cultivate and expand his analytical and problem-solving skills with a readiness and openness to learning newer things. This means that a Business analyst should not have any limitations in acquiring knowledge and upgrading oneself on a continual basis.

Due to the convoluted and constrained time period involved added with high stakeholders’ expectations life does getting exciting and challenging as one cannot allocate and find a sustainable environment for frequent negotiation. In this scenario a Business analyst should have the efficiency to conquer the information and efficacy to bring that change for good. The complexity of the problem determines the value of a business analyst. Even after many decades business analysts are to consider themselves as a beginner in facing newer problems.

Shockingly, numerous business leaders and experts participate in short-term thinking either because of the pressure of their lives, thinking about their reward or present speculation restore, their jobs and not getting fired, or stopping openings to keep their projects on track and their specialty/department or business above water.

At the senior level, the business analyst develops strategies to avoid the problem later the business analyst builds a strong firewall at the enterprise level.

HUSTLES OF A BUSINESS ANALYST:

Antagonistic stakeholders: Business analysts are in a position to take a colossal effort to make the stakeholders talk even if they attend the workshop/meetings regularly.

Stakeholders are overloaded with tasks and thus they don't want to spend time. They cannot schedule a perfect date to disclose the information related to the project to the business analyst.

To overcome this challenge the business analyst can follow some simple tips such as knowing the stakeholder’s personal interest and having an ice-breaking conversation on that topic and gradually can share a few good experiences regarding the previous similar project to gain the stakeholders assurance and trust.

There are few stakeholders who can blitz the Business Analyst with loads of documents. In such cases, all the hundreds of pages have to be read for finding an answer to a simple question.

Real needs vs. perceived needs: Real needs are visible and can be identified easily, whereas the perceived needs are the actual needs, but they little tricky to discover it. In some cases, it becomes strenuous for business clients to distinguish between a real need and a perceived need. A perceived need is intricate sometimes as it may be a temporary solution to the problem and not the issue.

So to summarise in spite of the various peaks to conquer in front during a journey in business analysis for someone who likes to trek with the necessary tools, attitude and techniques there are avenues to become an unheralded genius.
